Refund policy

Effective date: 01 April 2026

1 Change-of-mind returns

Mikdash does not ordinarily accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges for made-to-order, customised or personalised furniture. This includes products manufactured in a customer-selected size, fabric, colour, piping or configuration. This restriction does not apply where a product is defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise returnable under applicable law.

2 Online cooling-off rights

South African law provides a cooling-off right for certain electronic transactions. That right does not generally apply to goods made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised. If a statutory cooling-off right applies to a non-custom product, the customer may exercise it within the period prescribed by law and may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.

3 Incorrect or damaged deliveries

If Mikdash supplies the wrong product, or the product arrives with visible transit damage, the customer should stop using it and contact Mikdash promptly with the order number and clear photographs. Mikdash will assess the issue and arrange the appropriate remedy and collection where required.

4 Six-month statutory warranty

All goods carry the implied warranty of quality provided by the Consumer Protection Act. If, within six months after delivery, a product fails to meet the statutory quality standards, the customer is entitled to the remedy provided by law, which may include repair, replacement or refund at the customer’s election where the legal requirements are met. No term in this policy reduces the customer’s statutory rights. Any repair performed under the statutory warranty carries the further warranty required by law.

5 Limited residential warranty

In addition to the statutory warranty, Mikdash provides the following limited voluntary warranty for normal residential use from the date of delivery:

Component Period Coverage
Structural frame and construction 5 years Manufacturing defects affecting load-bearing integrity. Applies only to products that contain an internal structural frame.
Foam and fibre fillings 2 years Premature collapse or abnormal sagging beyond normal settling.
Stitching and seams 2 years Manufacturing-related stitching faults and seam separation.
Webbing springs and support systems 2 years Manufacturing defects affecting support and seating integrity, where those components are present.
Craftsmanship and assembly 2 years Workmanship and assembly defects under normal residential use.

6 What the warranty does not cover

  • Normal wear and tear, normal cushion softening, settling or minor comfort variation.
  • Initial fabric pilling, natural markings, minor dye-lot variation, weave variation, nap movement or other normal material characteristics.
  • Stains, fading, scratches, dents, burns, cuts, liquid damage, moisture, heat, mould, mildew or environmental exposure.
  • Pet damage, misuse, overloading, jumping, accidental damage or use contrary to care instructions.
  • Damage caused by incorrect cleaning products or methods.
  • Third-party repair, alteration, assembly or modification.
  • Commercial, hospitality, office or rental use unless Mikdash agreed to that use in writing.
  • Damage during moving, relocation, storage or transport after delivery.
  • Outdoor exposure unless the product and upholstery were expressly sold for outdoor use.

7 Warranty remedy after six months

After the six-month statutory period, repair is normally the first remedy under the limited voluntary warranty. Mikdash may replace the affected component or product where repair is not reasonably practical. A refund is not automatically available under the limited voluntary warranty, but statutory rights remain unaffected.

8 Warranty claim procedure

  1. Contact Mikdash in writing using the customer support details shown on the order confirmation or website.
  2. Provide the order number or proof of purchase.
  3. Provide clear photographs and a description of the issue and when it began.
  4. Stop using the product if continued use may worsen the damage or create a safety concern.
  5. Allow a reasonable opportunity for inspection, collection, assessment or repair.

9 Assessment and transport

Mikdash may inspect the product before approving a claim. If a covered defect is confirmed, Mikdash will bear the reasonable cost of the statutory remedy or approved warranty work as required by law and this policy. If no covered defect is found, the customer may be responsible for reasonable inspection, collection, delivery or repair costs disclosed in advance.

10 Sample box

The sample box costs R250. The fee is not redeemable or credited against a later furniture order. This does not affect the customer’s rights if the sample box is not delivered, is incorrectly supplied or is defective.
